Mixed day to day!

Had my 6 month review.  2 1/2 years on. Had to waite 2 hours to be seen, as it turned out that I'd been placed on the wrong list. Profound apologies made by one of the leading UK Oncologists.

Anyway, down to one scan a year and he's very please with my progress, said I'm doing extremely well. I asked him about my PSA levels (I also had incidental prostate cancer) and he said that they were too low to be of concerned about and rise really means nothing without substantial evidence.

In short, good news.

That’s good to hear Ian and I expect a relief regarding the prostate too though a nuisance you had to wait so long.Love Jane xx

" Very pleased" and "extremely well" are the sort of Oncologist's words which lift our hearts. Raised glasses for you Ianw! x

Hi

Well he was quite dismissive about the PSA levels, saying it caused too much anxiety when it wasn't necessary and they look at everything to see there has been recurrance before considering any further treatment.

Sorry to hear he was dismissive. It doesn’t make you feel good when treated like that. Many years ago I saw a urologist who said he didn’t have time to discuss my bladder as he was due on the golf course. He wasn’t missed when he retired.Best wishes Jane xx

Hi

No, when he was being dismissive he was being very reassuring. The point being that too much emphasis is placed on PSA levels without taking a rounded approach. My misue of words.
