Hi,I had a post op ct scan on the 23rd January & have heard nothing since. Is it usual to get the results at the next urology appointment ? I’m not due to see the urologist till May.Love Jane xx
Hi Jane, do you have a CNS? I'd phone mine and ask. I bet if there was a problem they would have been in touch. Sending love x
Hi Jane, I’ve just seen your post. I’ve been on the receiving end of late results (although for sarcoma, not bladder cancer) several times and nothing is more irritating and stressful. The first thing you can do is chase the hospital whilst simultaneously asking your GP to shake them up a bit. Don’t be frightened of upsetting people - waiting five weeks for the result of a scan when you have cancer is simply not acceptable. Also, contact PALS and put in a complaint if you don’t get an immediate response. Going forwards, at every scan appointment, you need to ask the question as to when you can expect your scan results, and make a note of it. We all have far too much to worry about dealing with this wretched disease without some muppet forgetting to contact us with the results of a scan that may be, quite literally, life changing.
Good luck and let us know how you get on.
Hi Jane. Just to echo the above. I have been in similar situations where my scheduled consultation was months after my scan. I called my CNS who gave me the results over the phone. Thankfully, nothing of any concern. Best wishes.
Best wishes to All, rily. What is a Community Champion ?
I have recently had a PET scan and am awaiting results. No news is good news but I too will contact CNS in due course, good advice.
Best wishes to you, hopefully all well.
Hi,I’ve had no contact with my CNS since the day of diagnosis. She was asked to get in contact by Southmead & the stoma team but never did.At my last urology appt she came into the room for the last few minutes but said nothing even when I was shown out.I got fed up of just getting an answering machine when I did phone up.It’s disappointing but it shows how care and support can vary.I do have a lovely Macmillan agent though.Love Jane xx
Hi Jane. Your next best bet after the CNS is your consultant's secretary. My GP was also sent copies of all my results, so a call there may help. Best wishes.
My urologists are very good at supplying me with copies of hospital letters. If I don’t hear soon then I will do as you all suggest.Thank you all.Jane xx
I give it 3 weeks for my husbands kidney cancer scans to make sure its been to the MDT meeting then i start phoning up his CNS, in your case i think i would contact PALS about the CNS, unless i'm missing something about that.. Fingers crossed for good results X
I rang our gp 2 weeks after my husband's scan and he had the results He gave us the good news over the phone All clear
So may be worth a call .GP said they receive the results electronically
Thanks Sue.Love Jane xx
Thanks Wilbert,I’m going to phone the health centre although my hopes aren’t high.I am seriously considering changing practices. We all keep hoping a new dr will set up in the old health centre building but it’s been lying empty for several years now.love Jane xx
My lovely Macmillan agent rung this morning and I mentioned that I had to chase up the scan results. She offered to find out for me and has spoken to my specialist nurse. The nurse is hopefully going to get back to me soon.I don’t think I can wait until May to find out the results.Love Jane xx
Fingers crossed for you Jane. Really hope your CNS gets back to you quickly. Mine is a marvel for this kind of support. The Macmillan agent sounds right a goodie. x
Thanks H,I hope I do hear from the CNS.The agent is so nice,I wish I had been in contact with her from the start.I’m exhausted today but have been down to visit mum and stayed for tea & cake.Mum seemed brighter today which is a relief.Love Jane xx
