Had treatment for bladder cancer last year. I Had tumour removed diagnosed with high grade 2 bladder cancer and had chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment and finally dismissed from oncology department October 2018. I had flexible cystoscopy in February 2019- all clear.I had additional check flexible cystoscopy today 10th July 2019. Consultant showed me superficial tumour which he said he would remove in a few weeks time. Disappointed!
Anyone in the group experienced similar? Love to hear from you
Hi Garviv, my initial cancer was high Grade 2 also. After TURBT I opted for BCG, all seemed ok then after a year I had a reoccurrence. Of course I felt very anxious. Because I get checked 3 monthly mine was also superficial, and subsequent biopsy showed it was a lower grade. So in fact my treatment continues, and my life goes happily on as it was. I guess you'll have to start again with a TURBT then await biopsy results before you can decide what treatment next. It is disappointing when it pops up again but that's bladder cancer for you, and luckily there are a range of other treatment options. Good luck.
Many thanks Hero the Dog.feel better after your comments
i will keep you informed
Hi Garviv. It must be disappointing when you get a recurrence, but because of regular checks, things can usually be sorted quickly. I had a few of these scares over the years, but on second checks they turned out to be nothing, so fingers crossed. Best wishes.
Best wishes to All, rily. What is a Community Champion ?
Hi Garviv, not quite the same but my husband had a 'seaweed forest' of tumours TURBT'd out late 2018 G3 pTa, and 6xBCG over to new year. Usual 6 week wait. His cystoscopy always under GA due to strictures which make insertion, er, strenuous, as far as I can gather, so it turned into another TURBT on the spot as there was already another papilloma growing. However despite dificulties with the subsequent Mitomycin, latest cysto after that course shows no new growths so progress. Can't give you the biopsy update as we are still waiting ourselves but hope this encourages you....
Thank you for your thoughtful message. Yes fingers crossed
Thank you Denby
Hope all goes well with your husband
Sorry to hear that Garviv, I’ll keep everything crossed for you. Xx
Thank You Sue
Got the call from nurse today, biopsy all clear and now on the flexi in 3 months drill. Did get her to at least listen to my issues about the Drs poor communication with us.[mentioned in another discussion on here]. And put in a massive plug for this site, she didn't even know about it.....
Good wishes to all for similar hopeful outcomes. [Edited by admin] Probable cause of the bladder cancer in his case is toxic breakdown product cocktail of other meds he can't live without, but at least if it stays non-invasive it's highly manageable.
Great news Denby . Love hearing the All Clear siren. I will raise a glass to you and your husband this evening. Best wishes.
That;s lovely news, well far better than it could have been x
