Hi guys.

I was diagnosed in early November with bladder cancer. After my turbt my cancer is growing  inward. I have a PET scan coming here on the 30th December and if no further spreads are found I start chemotherapy on the 9th of January.

I've been told the bladder and prostrate have to be removed once the chemotherapy has finished. It's going to a difficult few months but will keep the head high

I am new to the forum and this is my first post.

Thanks

  • Hi Mar09,There are several of us on here who have undergone bladder removal and can support you when you get to that stage. As Latestart says it is best to get as fit as you can beforehand if possible.I live happily with a stoma.
    Best wishes Jane

  • Thanks for your reply.

Up until mumy diagnosis, I had been in the gym 6 days a week for the past year and a half. I have stopped at the minute. I fear picking up any colds and flus or Infections before my chemotherapy begins.

I will be back someday when iam well again even with a stoma.

    Thanks again

  • Yes best to be wary as there are so many lurgies around at this time of year. It’s great that you went to the gym as your fitness will help when you get the surgery.I was too ill to exercise before mine and the recovery period was very long as a result.Best wishes for your chemotherapy.Jane

  • Thanks so much. It's comforting to know that all you guys are out there for support and the responses I've had so far is encouraging.

    Thank you again

  • Yes the gym is useful - I did a lot of egym (resistance work)  both before and after the op and Pilates is especially good for core. You can do that with a stoma too once you feel confident
