Hi everyone.
so just finished 6 weeks of BCG. If I can help anyone or share their worries please let me know. I’ve struggled since diagnosis of bladder cancer and found this experience really hard. The world is just more uncertain. And my happiness more elusive. In the early panic stricken days after seeing the tumour on the screen (wish I hadn’t ) the people on this forum helped me so much. So thank you all of you who text. It stopped me falling apart. I’m still sad and scared but I am beginning to realise this is my world now and I’m going to try to enjoy every minute I can. Heart

  • morning Kitty. Welcome to the forum and the very best of luck with your bcg. I was diagnosed with T1G3 & CIS 2 years ago and have had 15 rounds of BCG. If you click on my profile I have recorded everything so far, procedure , side effects, results etc including the bleaching etc. I found that for me, on the day of BCG, it made more sense and less anxiety to stay at home next to the bathroom, because we are told not to use public toilets for 6 hours after the first void. I feel i was lucky that I didn't experience bladder spasms and i hope they have sorted this for you. I found that I felt fatigued for 2 -3,days afterwards, but i have had long covid as well , so its probably partially that. It was also fairly lucky for me that mine is always on a Tuesday, so i was usually ok by the weekend. As yours is on a Friday it may make the weekend a bit less like socialising. Some people have no side effects with the first 6 , unfortunately you wont know till you have had the 1st. Keep in touch with the forum Kitty, there are quite a few of us on bcg , we will steady you through it. The folk on here are wonderful and kind, ready to hold a virtual hand always . Take care

    Much love Angela x

  • Thankyou so much!

    I really appreciate your reply!

It's always hard to take in all the information at appointments and there's always a question you wished you had asked even if you go with it all written down!

I'll definitely keep you all updated!

I too keep a little kinda diary on my profile, I'll check out yours in a mo.

  • Aw Kitty. Hopefully you will be able to have some nice times. I had horrible bladder spasms with the catheter after TURBTS. Buscopan helped. I’ve had no bladder spasms with the BCG tho.  I completely understand how you are feeling.l basically waited after treatment for awful things to happen. My treatments were on a Wednesday morning and by Friday I felt ok. I drank huge amounts of lemon barley water recommended by friends on here. And bleached and washed till teatime. It’s all tricky and I share your feelings about the fact people are putting things in you. My nurse was male but incredibly skilled and caring. I got over my embarrassment. I mean he told me he was seeing 16 patients last Wednesday. I try really really hard to say this treatment this person is trying to make me well. It sometimes works. Every one told me I would feel better once I was on a path. I didn’t believe them but they were right. I try to focus on small things that make me smile or happy. Sending you lots of good wishes x

  • Steady you through it is exactly what it feels like. Thank you Angela x

  • Thankyou Joyce,

I too am on buscopan, it really does help with the spasms doesn't it!

Thankyou for your lovely reply, it's great to know your not alone and there's people here who understand and you can talk to.

I'll keep everyone posted on how my weekend goes after my first treatment.

    Cheers,
