Hello all,
as I may have mentioned I have a really bad relationship with junk food….so today walking home from BCG#5 I popped into M&S to pick up some bits for tonight…walking home I have to pass Macdonlads, by habit I walked in and ( on automatic) started to order a breakfast meal, I don’t know why this happened but when it came to ordering a drink I stopped and thought, WTF are you doing in here..it was like I was waking up, I picked up my shopping and walked out, went home and had some cheese on toast..
to the normal sane person no big deal, but to me it’s massive…I’m very proud of myself…my wife my doctors my CNS, my friends and family have all told me I need to lose some weight for health reasons. Today I really think I’ve taken a big step….
this probably sounds really weird to you guys, but what I’m trying to say is I did well today…
love to all
Nigel
Well done, good choice, cheese on toast, so much nicer than deep fried food
Fantastic Nigel, well done. There's been a lot on Radio 4 recently about Ultra Processed Food, UPF, which is what most of Maccie D's is. There is no doubt, it actually IS addictive.
Make your cheese on toast even more yummy, slap some tomatoes, fresh or tinned is fine, on the toast under the cheese. You did ask for recipes? In case you've not read the many times I've posted this, my weight management secret weapon is sesame Ryvita. If I'm eating anything white flour, ie highly processed, I eat a crunchy, savoury dry slice of that before or alongside and have a half scone, cake or whatever instead of a whole scone etc. Just save the other half for another day/or freeze it.
If you can afford M&S, check out if Riverford deliver in your area. Using organic fruit, veg and meat to make your own food ensures a better level of micronutrients so somewhat helps avoid crazy hunger when your body is looking for more of those, but can't get them from non-organic food.
Keep us posted, we are part of your support network...
best, Denby
I heartily support your recommendation of Riverford boxes Derby, I've been getting their veg boxes for over 25 years. Started getting them in London and now their S. Devon farm is relatively close to me on Exmoor. Not only brilliant organic veg and fruit, but run as a workers cooperative too. I love Guy Singh-Watson (previously owner) his comments about the future of farming are totally sound. If we want to save our planet, organic veg (ie no nasty chemicals) and decently raised meat are critical to our futures. Also no importing stuff by air from other side of the world. Eat local and keep our good farmers in business. Not the cheapest as you'd imagine but absolutely wonderful quality. Taste the difference!
Thank you everyone, I’ve spent £0 today…had weeabix for breakfast, prawns and rice and veg for lunch and brown toast tonight…so I’m £25 better off and healthier…
Nigel x
