Hello
Patent 74/M was given Urine Catherer but due to inflammation the catherer has caused him significant amount of pain and removed.
Urine frequency is high causing him sleepless.
There are external catheter available but on Amazon the reviews doesn't seem to be great.
Has anyone used external urine catheter - its basically a pouch/condom type attachment that collects urine. If you or anyone who have used anything like this I would be grateful for recommendations.
Thank you.
Thanks Teasswill - he does keep a container next to his bed at night but the urge to go toilet keeps waking him up.
That is really miserable for him.I hope something can be done to help.Bladder removal is major surgery and there can be complications.Recovery usually takes a few months.Jane
In my days as pottery tutor at Headway [brain injury charity] I had a lovely gentleman in the group who had been left bladder incontinent and wheelchair bound by a stroke. He had a condom type collection device, it was mostly fine but did fall off from time to time resulting obviously in a soggy seat and need to clean up. Without [as a woman ] getting too graphic, I would assume that keeping such a device in place depends somewhat on how flaccid or otherwise the penis is. A very elderly gentleman's fairly shrunken situation was probably not as successful as on someone younger. I have no idea if any kind of removable adhesive is provided nowadays, as what I've described was about twenty years ago.
Hi there - just as a quick update.
Things doesn't seem to have progressed.
His fifth round of BCG is still causing issues - He tried on Catherer for a few weeks although able to sleep the pain is still there. He removed it but can't sleep because of frequent urination and the pain also.
He is 74 - He is on a few rounds of medication to control the inflammation for the last few days but so far I don't think it has made a difference.
I feel stuck.
