Hi everyone,
my mum has recently been diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma. She has just had a stent fitted in the bile duct and is feeling better after a few days. The doctors have referred her to Christie’s for Chemo and we are just waiting for the call. She doesn’t want to know more than she “needs” to, and I’m just wondering if anyone else is struggling with the unknown? I’m totally on my mums side with whatever she wants, but I’m a “knowledge is power” kind of person so usually like to find out whatever I can!
Thanks X
I’m so sorry to hear about your mum’s diagnosis, it must be a really tough time for both of you. I can totally relate to the struggle of wanting to know everything versus respecting your mum’s wishes. When my dad was going through something similar, I was the “knowledge is power” person too, but I had to remind myself to balance that with his need to take things at his own pace. The fact that she’s feeling better after the stent is definitely a positive, and once you get more details from Christie's, things might start to feel a bit more manageable. It’s a lot of uncertainty right now, but you’re doing the right thing by supporting her however she needs.
