Hi all, just on my 4th cycle of Carboplatin and paclitaxel, no particular side effects other than the hair loss, although my grey hair is stubbornly hanging in, which I am happy with, all the dark has gone!!
I am just starting with a slightly sore tongue, not major but just looking for advice from anyone who has the same problem. I am currently just using a mild mouth wash once a day. X
Hi JDTb698a5 ,
I didn’t have your particular chemo but have heard of others that have been provided with a specific mouthwash by their Dr’s but I’m not sure how exactly you’d access this, whether it would be through your oncologist or maybe the chemo unit where you receive your treatment? Anyway I hope you find something that eases the soreness & that other than this that your treatment is going well.
Nicola
Hi Nikki, I will speak to my oncologist on Friday see what he can recommend, its not been too bad this week. I am going to ask him about my nose as well because this last week that is a bit dry and sore inside!! Other than that yes the treatment is going on. Tomorrow will be the last infusion of my 4th cycle, so just 2 more to go before my CT/MRI scans to see if its working. Fingers crossed. Xx
Hello JTTb698a5,
I’m sorry that you are going through this.
I just had a look at the mouthwash I was prescribed prior to chemo and it’s:
Benzydamine Hydrochloride 0.15 w/v
Thankfully I didn’t have the need to use it but I hope that you can access this or something similar that will help. I hope you are doing as ok as possible otherwise during this tough treatment regime.
Sending hugs xx
Hi, thanks for that. I will ask my Consultant in the morning when I see him prior to my treatment, hopefully he will prescribe it for me.
Other than that I am doing ok thanks up to now. Just getting a bit more tired as the weeks go by. But a week off after tomorrow, so time to recharge a bit. X
Hello JDTb698a5
I don't know why this didn't come up on my feed, sorry! I am pleased that you are coping well with the chemo, I did too. I am afraid I can't help with the sore tongue but you have already had some guidance.
I found the uneven hair loss really interesting and in the end, my husband clippered my hair with his beard trimmer. Then, towards the end of the six cycles, white wiry hair started coming through. I was so pleased having spent a small fortune in highlights over the years. But then, a month or so later, the darker hair came through, the difference in length was noticeable. And be prepared for lots of curls - I normally have poker straight hair and as it grew back my friend thought I had had a perm (and not a nice one!)
Irene xx
