Hello
I was diagnosed with "most likely" cancer at my colonoscopy on 19 October 2024! The scans confirmed that it was anal cancer - stage 3 and had spread to lymph nodes in my pelvis and groin.
I started the standard treatment on 9 December (chemo/radiotherapy) for 28 days over five and half weeks, finishing on 19 January!
I had my PET-CT scan on 19 April and today I've been informed that I am cancer free!
I am so unbelievably grateful for this community - before, during and after! I'm going to get busy living and loving life - so I'm sharing today as I think we all need some hope!
I'm rooting and tooting for you all and you can stay in touch with me on insta (MissVintageVixen).
Lots of love and luck to us all xx
Thanks so much - we've just booked a mini-break down to Brighton to celebrate our 15 year wedding anniversary and I'm throwing myself into live again!
I've put those excruciating poops behind me (lol) and the sitz bath has been stored away!!
Thanks for being part of my journey too - this community is so important!
xx
Hi JenW
I was preparing myself for a #BarbieButt and TBH sharing here, I haven't ruled that out - I'll do whatever I can to LIVE! I'm trying to put recurrence out of my mind and in all my social media posts I didn't include "for now" after cancer-free! It's so difficult to navigate!
Where are you in the treatment pathway? I've got everything crossed for you - I did share a weekly update when I was going through treatment with pretty much brutal honestly and a few jokes to lighten the mood and then at the end of treatment did a wrap-up of all the things that did help.
Good luck and keep that positive mental attitude! Believe in the power of chemoradiation too!
Best of luck
Ali xx
Thank you - I admire you so much Irene75359 - your posts and support were so encouraging and how you keep showing up on this forum for everyone! You played such a significant role in my journey - and I'll be forever grateful. Just wanted you to know that xx
Thank you Poppy!!! Hope you're doing well too - much love xx
This community was my daily source of sanity and support - I'm so incredibly grateful for this community and including your advice and guidance too Nikki65
I feel a tad bad for going rogue now - disappearing into the 'real world' but I'm trying to establish myself as a menopause wellness coach and I'm getting my hustle on as we didn't plan for cancer (who does!??). I continue to speak openly about my diagnosis and treatment - hoping that I nudge those who have been ignoring health issues to go to their medical health professional.
So whilst I'm no longer visible here - I'll continue to use my platforms, social media and public speaking to raise awareness!
Thank you for the bottom (see what I did there) of my heart - for all that you give to support everyone in this community - the new faces and the old....
What you do has such a positive impact! THANK YOU.
Warmest and with love
Ali xx
