Hi everyone I start my radiotherapy and chemotherapy on the 14 th October

Unfortunately We only have a shower, and I wonder if anyone can recommend

a cloth that I can soak in Epsom Salts to help my skin in that delicate place.Ideally

one that I could throw away each time.I think a flannel would be too rough

love Patricia xx

  • Hi as well as the famous sitz bath we do have the shower spray that can be unhooked from the wall. My husband bought an extra long shower hose he attached to it and a bidet spray gun which could easily read my toilet which was super controllable and convenient for cleaning your nether regions. A much cheaper alternative to a bidet in the bathroom and so easy to attach.

  • Hi Patricia - I used a very soft flannel to pat my areas that were damaged - back to front completely was so sore - strong mansize tissues instead of toilet roll worked well too x best of all was a shower after toilet when possible and a jug of warm water to wash front the front or back x I also filled the sitz bath before leaving g the bathroom then added warm water at the next toilet time as filling it took a few precious seconds in our bath / shower tiny bathroom x  x I am into week 11 post treatment and it seems a lifetime ago so hold onto the fact this will all pass x meds creams and anything you may need all ready for you to use help the anxiety in the night and day x x

and don’t forget to empty and refill the sitz bath mid bathroom time for the warm water relief after emptying or wee x

    good luck x Angie x

  • Julie, I wish I had thought of that - we have a shower attachment too and a longer hose would have been so easy! x
