Just to let you know that further to my previous post we found travel insurance that was mentioned by various people in this group. We ended up using 'Insurancewith'
My sister who made the last minute call yesterday spent an hour talking to someone who was very knowledgeable and helpful - and the quote was extremely reasonable and covered my mum's lung cancer diagnoses among other issues she has with blood pressure, heart etc.
We paid £170 for a 10 day trip to Europe and includes insurance for flight cancellation due to ill health, all medical expenses, and repatriation if needed - and a very low excess . We were so pleased after spending hours getting ridiculous quotes for thousands of pounds or flat right refusal to insure my mum.
So thank you to those who posted and I hope this post helps someone else in the same predicament as we were!
