Yes i also got mine through boots after having mouth cancer it was £ 83.45p that is for the both of us for a one year annual policy nothing wrong with the wife at all we are aged 63 & 60 so i thought that was really good value i am in remission now !

Just joined this group as I’ve had the last of the chemotherapies with treatment for 3c Ovarian (ppc) cancer. Waiting for scan results but as everything has gone to plan, am hopeful I’ll get something of a remission. My specialist nurse said I could book a holiday so took her literally and got flights to Spain next week for a long weekend.

Thought I’d wing it with the E111 and my regular travel insurance through Nat West. However Nat West recommended a broker for cover to include cancer related events and for 4 nights they have quoted £590. I tried Boots who asked much more relevant questions and were far more helpful but the cost was still £270.

Going to keep looking but really need this break. Any advice greatly appreciated.

I'm glad to hear that you've had the last of your treatments and you're looking forward to a holiday in Spain. Unfortunately, as you have found, it can be more difficult to find travel insurance when you either have cancer or have had it before. 

I don't know if you've had a look through the Recommended Travel Insurance thread yet as it's where we try to keep recommendations from other forum members who have obtained travel insurance. There may be a company listed that you haven't tried. Either scroll down the page to it or click on the link I've created.

Most people recommend that you phone the travel companies rather than try and do online quotes as it's easier to explain to someone than try to complete an online form. 

If you take a look at this information on the NHS website you'll see it doesn't recommend that you rely on your EHIC card if you holiday in Europe as it doesn't cover you for cancellation of your holiday, lost or stolen luggage or the cost of being flown home if you were taken ill and needed to be brought home. It's also currently warning that your EHIC card may only be valid until 29 March 2019 if we leave the EU without a deal in place. 

Hopefully you'll be able to obtain some reasonably priced insurance from one of the recommended companies that people here have used before.

Boots provided annual cover for Europe for under 31 days at any one time for £110. I had to answer quite specific questions related to my cancer which was an insight. 

Anyway snapped up the insurance and am sitting on a beach in Malaga with my daughter as I write. Only four nights but just incredible after those six hard months of treatment.
