Hello everyone,
Just found out that my auntie has pancreatic and bile duct cancer.
The doctors have said that she has had it for at least 6 months, they are checking as it may also be in her lung but there’s nothing they can do.
As you can imagine I am extremely emotional but trying to hold it all together at work and in front of family.
Would love support & some advice.
Hello , I’m sorry to hear about your Auntie, and how emotional you are feeling at the moment. I see that you have joined the supporting someone with incurable cancer group, good choice if I may say so, I’m hoping if you post in there you will find people who understand what you are going through at the moment as they have been there or are living through that now. You also might consider looking at the family and friends group and the pancreatic cancer group.
I’m wondering if this link may also help from the Macmillan information and support pages
https://www.macmillan.org.uk/information-and-support/coping/your-emotions/someone-close-has-cancer
i found when I received my diagnosis it took a while for it to sink in, I think me and my husband both felt numb at first and my husband’s attempt at being strong came over to me as being a bit aloof, it was very hard for the both of us, I find reading that section and a section about talking helpful for us to start supporting each other.
I hope you find your way through these next few difficult months.
Take care KT
