Hello
I have just joined.
I have been diagnosed with Muscle Invasive Bladder Cancer and have not yet had any chemo or the removal of my bladder, womb, uterus, lymphs, urethra etc. I had a TURBT on the 23 October.
I have been experiencing great stress with difficuluties, delays and broken promises for dates for MDT meetings and chemo commencment. Sadly the communication has been such that it has hard to have faith in what we are told. It has been hugely bewildering and frightening. I'm very grateful for my GP who is unhappy with what has been happening but his hands are tied.
I am desperately hoping the 3rd attempt at a MDT meeting will happen this Friday 13th.

I feel so anxious and stressed. It feels like my life is already over. I weep a lot.
My brother was diagnosed with uncurable cancer 2 weeks ago.
4 weeks ago I was organising the funeral of one of my two closest friends.
My other best friend has been battling recurrent colon cancer for the last 5 years.
Life seems full of despair.

I'm so sorry to be so miserable but I am struggling.
I know that everyone here also has sad suffering too, I wish you all the best that can possibly happen.

  • Hi  and welcome to the Online Community, although I am sorry to see you finding us and so sorry to hear the challenges you are having getting to a place for getting treatment.

From my long experience the more complicated the treatment the longer it takes to get going.

Sorry to hear the cancer experiences that are going on in your family and friends, this is such a hard time and I can understand how you are felling.

Once a treatment plan is put in place the noise in your head will calm down and you can start to plan how to get though this.

A cancer diagnosis can bring a lot of stress, confusion and questions on all the family but talking with people who are on the same journey can help a lot.

Can I direct you to this link to our very supportive Bladder cancer group as this will open up your concerns to a wider audience who know exactly what you are going through at the moment.

Just follow the link I have created then hit the ‘Join This Group’ tab just under the main group name, then go to the 'Start a Discussion' tab and set up your very own Discussion and introduce yourself to the group and ask your questions.

This site is organised into various groups so we do have lots of support groups that are Cancer specific  and also ones that are general Cancer experience groups.

You may find our various Macmillan Support Line Services to be helpful - call them on 0808 808 00 00 This free service covers Emotional Support, Practical Information. Clinical Information, Financial Support and Work Guidance mostly open 8.00 to 8.00 but check the link.

We also have our ‘Ask an Expert’. section where you can post questions to our mostly Volunteer Experts but please allow 2 working days to get a reply.

Our Online Information and Support Section  is a good place to find information covering cancer diagnosis, treatments and pages covering most types of cancers.

Talking to people face to face can help a lot so check to see if you have any Local Macmillan Support in your area or a Maggie’s Centre as these folks are amazing.

When you feel up to it try putting some information in your profile. This really helps others when answering. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. Just click on YOUR username, select 'Edit Profile'. Put as much or as little in your profile and you can amend it at any time - you can see members profiles by hitting our forum names.

    All the very best.
