Hi does anyone know if there are football teams that consist of cancer survivors I would like to play bit football are there any in glasgow or ayrshire areas yours sincerely bertyfrog

  • Hi and welcome to the online community

I don't know if there are any football teams that are only for cancer survivors but if you click on this link to In Your Area you could see what information and support centres there are in the areas of the country you are interested in. For example I typed in Glasgow and one of the support groups I spotted was called Move More Glasgow which specialises in physical activity for people affected by cancer. Even if they don't organise football they may be able to point you in the right direction.

    Best wishes

Hilatchbrook thank you for your message I will look up what you told me when did you get diagnosis I was diagnosed nearly four years ago with cancer of the saliva gland had it and tumour removed then had radiotherapy  but four years on the e discovers radiotherapy has damaged brain my personality has changed through this I struggle now someday I try kerp fit with jogging and walking it's good to be able to chat with people who have been through cancer I enjoy doing bit of gardening when I feel OK thank you again for your reply kind regards bertyfrog

  • Hi

I was diagnosed with melanoma two and a half years ago but, thankfully, it was removed with surgery. However, I have to go for a skin check every 3 months but that's a very small price to pay!

I too enjoy walking and try and get out for an hour each day. As for gardening I'd rather sit in the shade with a glass of wine and look at the garden rather than actually garden!

You might like to join the head and neck cancer group, where you can chat to others who have had salivary gland cancer, and the life after cancer group, where you can discuss the physical and emotional after effects of cancer.

If you'd like to join either or both of these groups just click on the links I've created and then choose 'join this group' on the pages that open. You can then respond to existing posts by selecting 'reply' and start your own by selecting 'start a discussion'.

When you have a minute it would be really useful if could pop something about your journey into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

    Hi

I found this and although it's not specifically for cancer survivors I thought that  Walking football in Glasgow might be of interest to you. (And I hope that I've not offended you if you're too young to join in)
