Hi

My dad has been diagnosed with advance aggressive bladder cancer. He started chemotherapy last week. As of yet he has had no symptoms. He seems to be accepting the situation and very keen to carry on as normal. On the other hand my mum is finding it difficult to accept .

  • Hi and welcome to the online community

It's perfectly normal for your mum to find your dad's diagnosis difficult to accept. Coming to terms with cancer affects the whole family.

I see that you have joined the family and friends group and I'm sure if you post in that group you will receive support. If you're not sure how to get back to that group just click on the link I've created and then select 'Start a discussion'.

Perhaps you could suggest to your mum that she joins the community so that she can benefit from the help and advice here. If she doesn't feel comfortable doing that she could give the Macmillan Support Line a call on 0808 808 0000 and speak to one of the specialist cancer nurses. It's free to call and available daily from 8am to 8pm.
