Colorectal Cancer Diagnosis

Hi Everyone,

I went for a colonoscopy a week ago and the doctor found a tumor which he says is cancer. I've since had a contrast CT and an MRI. Now I'm waiting for them to get together and let me know how bad it is. I guess a lot of people go through this and the feeling of being in limbo. I'm 51 with a wife and 15 Yr old daughter on the ASD spectrum. We've not told her yet. I've not told many people yet. I'm waiting to see what the treatment plan is before I tell everyone.

I told a couple people at work and found myself trying to make them feel better about me having cancer. It felt weird.

Anyway, I don't really know what I'm looking for but thought this might be a good place to start.

Thanks, Steve.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm sorry to read that you've recently been diagnosed with colorectal cancer and I know what a difficult time this will be for the whole family.

As the online community is divided into different support forums I'm going to recommend that you join the bowel cancer forum which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support from others with a similar diagnosis to you.

To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

  • Thanks for the reply. I'll do those things you suggested and post in the bowel cancer forum. Hopefully I didn't go against the community guidelines posting this here.

  • Hi

No you haven't gone against any guidelines. The New to the Community forum is for exactly what you did, ie post when you're not sure which forum you should join Relaxed
