Hi everyone,

A few weeks ago we asked for your feedback about the ‘Living with incurable cancer group’ and how this might look in the future. We’d like to thank everyone who took part in our survey and the feedback we’ve received has been invaluable to us in reviewing the group and how it currently works.

On the Community, our highest priority is ensuring that our members feel they have a safe and supportive space to openly share their feelings and experiences. We feel it’s important to be able to facilitate this and to grow our Community in line with what our members feel works best for them.

In light of this, we will be trailing a ‘sub-group’ called ‘End of life’. This will be a smaller, publicly visible group that will be ‘attached’ to the ‘Living with incurable cancer’ group. You’ll be able to access the group through a link on the right hand side of the page. You can also access it using this link:

End of life group

We understand that there are some strong opinions surrounding this especially with regard to a reduction in activity within the main group. We’d like to assure you that the intention in creating the sub-group is not to divert members to another area, but rather provide a dedicated space for members to talk about the particular impact of end of life in a space where they feel comfortable. With the sub-group being embedded within the ‘Living with incurable cancer group’, it means that members are able to participate within all discussions across both spaces. We’d like to assure you that we’ve not taken this decision lightly. We will keep an eye on the group to see if the dedicated space brings the benefits that we think it will and we will review this in one month’s time.

If you’ve any questions about the sub-group, or you’d like to share your thoughts with us then please do get in touch on community@macmillan.org.uk.

Best wishes,

The Community Team
