I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer last year. It isn't curable but it's treatable. I had a big operation last year to remove what they could. I was left with small nodules. It is slowly growing and low grade. I've struggled financial. I've never been on benefits in my life. My Macmillan Nurse 3 times was gonna look into what I could claim but never got back. So when my sick run out a friend told me about ESA so I went down that round. Questions after ouestions my head was done in by all this finally I received £110 a week. After been off work and year I don't feel 100 percent but better than I did. I now won't to try return to work on a phase return. Does anyone no what the presture is. And also just found out I could be entitled to pip does anyone no thanks
I'm sorry to hear that your Macmillan nurse has let you down. Please try giving the helpline a call, the number is 0808 808 0000, open Monday to Friday from 9am to 8pm. Ask to speak to someone about finances, and they will help you through the various options. There are even one off grants if you need them.
There may be other things that you can claim, I'm no expert. In the meantime, I'm going to highlight your post to the admin and they will be in touch to find out more.
I am not medically qualified, please consult your doctor or undertake your own research.
Thank you for the information. I don't only feel let down I also feel push to the side and forgotten about my husband and I did tell my consultant this 3 month ago. And still nothing. My sister in law as just finished her chemotherapy as she as breast cancer and her Macmillan Nurse as been fantastic. A simple phone call just to check how she is doing. She was shocked to hear I've had no help. I am now on top of things andone no what benefits am entitled to. In August am gonna try get back to work on a phase return for two days a week am gonna take one step at a time and see what happens
