Hello All

it’s been a year since i had 8/12 folfox6. Randomly today after starting some basic pilates yesterday, suddenly throwing up and it seems to residual chemo. That bright yellow colour is hard to forget and that feeling of being completely zonked.

Has anyone else experienced this after this period of time ? Feels being thrown back in time.

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community

Having not had chemotherapy myself I'm afraid I can't answer your question about how long the drugs remain in your system but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies.

If you still have a CNS it might be an idea to give him/her a call to find out if this is normal or not. Alternatively you could post your question in the ask a nurse section, and one of the cancer nurse specialist will get back to you in 2 working days, or phone the Macmillan Support Line on 0808 808 0000 and speak to one of the nurses. It's free to call and available every day from 8am to 8pm.

  • Hi , and a second welcome. In general the actual chemo drug is dispelled from the system within 24 hours, but the actual effects can last much longer and months in some cases. Follow the advice from above, but if the effects do not subside or get worse then it is always wise to get medical advice.. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

Thank you both for the advice. Turned out my issue was a bit more serious than I realised. Just out of hospital and hopefully back on track xx
