im panicking, a lot.

i had my second round of chemotherapy on 8th February, I’d rung up prior to treatment to check my bloods were okay and I was told yes.

i went back to day ward on Monday with what turns out to be phlebitis, which I’ve been prescribed Hirudoid cream for and the nurse mentioned my blood count had been low, 0.7 and seemed a bit surprised I had had chemo, but said it wasn’t to low for me to have it.

ive just had a phone call from the day unit which was rather confused telling me not to panic but I’d been given the wrong medicine, no, the wrong treatment, my bloods were low they needed me to come in and get them checked again. I was already concerned as looking on here (as you do) people were saying they’d been deferred with count of 0.7.

Is this too low? What now? It’s half term, I’m a single mum and my daughter has conjunctivitis!

  • Hi

I haven't had chemotherapy so can't answer your question about what happens now but I noticed that your post had gone unanswered.

Could I suggest that you post your question in the breast cancer group, which I see you're a member of, as I think you're more likely to get a reply from the members of that group as it's a much busier group than this one.

If you're not sure how to get back there just click on the link I've provided. If you possibly want a quicker response, as I realise that this post is several days old, then you could phone your CNS or give the Macmillan Support Line a call on 0808 808 0000. It's free to call and their specialist nurses are available between 8am and 8pm.
