Dear all
I haven't been on the forum for about a year now? Felt a bit overwhelmed I suppose. My husband was diagnosed with throat Cancer two years ago and he went through radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Successfully. We live in France and the care was excellent. Just to deal with the language and learn the medical vocabulary? I have had to do everything and try and preserve myself as well. He now has six monthly checkups and touch wood all ok. However, last year he had a bad fall here in the house and broke his hip. 6weeks in traction in hospital and then a month for physio. We survived that one. During the last 12 years he has had another complication. Ulcers on the ankle and blocked arteries involving operations and daily care for new bandages.Very tiring and soul destroying too.
We now have HAD at home ie full hospital conditions in our kitchen/living space. He is in a wheelchair and for the moment on a TPN Negative Pressure therapy .It is tough going for him obviously but just seeing him in a wheelchair just breaks my heart. I have to sit back a bit but feel myself crumbling? Have excellent support from both neighbours and friends plus Cancer Support France but just wanted to post something today. Felt a bit low. There are good days and bad, just take it one day at a time.
I wish you all a good day.
Love Fifinet.
Hi Fifinet, I am sorry to read how things are. My heart goes out to you and I'm amazed at how well you cope. Feeling 'a bit low' is completely understandable, I can only imagine how hard it is for you seeing your husband in a wheelchair and goodness it sounds like he's had such a dreadful time. I remember you saying some time back how good the support is in France and it's good to hear that your neighbours are supportive. Are you able to get out for a break any time?
Sending big hugs, LoobyLou x

Many thanks for your kind words! Even remembering me?
Yes I do get out it is vital. Even a short walk to cool off when tempers are frayed.
Hope you are doing okay?
Have a good day.
Love Fifinet xx
Fifinet, Yes I remember you. It was so good to hear that treatment is good in France when so many return to the UK if they fall ill, and I remember our conversations, although finding them now might be a bit of a task! I'm fine than you. We get more news on the 29th with a virtual meeting with the specialist. I'm not counting my chickens, just hoping that we'll have a while longer together.
Love, LoobyLou xx
