  • Hi

Welcome to posting, albeit in a group we all wish we didn't have to belong to.

I completely understand where you're coming from. You don't mention whether you have a date for surgery, but I know how worrying the wait can be. I would suggest you call the helpline on 0808 808 0000 and speak to an expert for urgent support. You could also try our Ask an Expert page and post a question to the nurse, but it will take longer for her to get back to you. Please do speak to your GP so that s/he knows what you are both going through and could organise some counselling which you might well benefit from. Don't underestimate the emotional trauma that cancer can and does inflict on so many, and the importance of seeking help sooner rather than later. You might also like to call your wife's specialist nurse to explain your concern and, while I cannot give advice, he/she can.

You say that 'I'm not dealing with it very well', but you're in the right place and contacting the experts will, I hope, give you the assurance you need while you go through the dread of waiting, which is, after all, a symptom of the deep love we have for our loved ones. Please let us know how things go and how you get on. We're here for you.

Thinking of you and sending a virtual hug,
