Breast cancer for the under-50s

Breast cancer is far less common in the under-50s, but this can leave younger people with a diagnosis feeling isolated. This group is a place for them to come together, share experiences and support each other.

Periods returning post chemo

Hi ladies,

i finished chemo 15 months ago, had surgery then radiotherapy and began Tamoxifen. After 8months on Tamoxifen my doctor did a blood test and told me I was post menopause and swapped me onto Anastrozole.

but now 4 months on Anastrozole and my period has returned.....I’m 44.

I have contacted the oncologist and am waiting on another blood test and have a gynaecologist appointment next week, but is this common? Does anyone have any experience about what might happen next?

Thanks x

Hi

I'm afraid I don't have the experience you need but I noticed that your post had gone unanswered. By replying to you it will push it back to the top of the page where someone with the right experience may see it and respond.

If you don't get any replies you could post your question in ask a nurse and one of the specialist nurses should reply within 2 working days.

I'm also going to tag into my reply fellow Community Champions    and  as they look after the breast cancer groups and may have some experience with this.

Wishing you all the best
