I have had my first chemo and will have hercepton added after 3 chemo which is every 3 weeks. Someone told me to rub frankincense on my tumour just below my nipple. Should I do that? Also, am I allowed to swim in the sea when on chemo?

  • Hi Pollock

Thanks for getting in touch and welcome to the online community.

I see you’re a member of the Breast cancer forum. I hope you’re finding it supportive and informative.

Before using any herbal treatments it is better to check with your treatment team to avoid any interactions.

You might find this information on frankincense useful. It’s been reported that a common effect of using it can be skin reactions.

People can be advised not to swim when on chemotherapy. This is because chemotherapy affects your immune system and you may be more susceptible to any germs in the water. You should discuss this with your team if you are keen to go swimming.

I hope this information helps. Please feel free to get back in touch if you want more information or support.

    Best wishes,
