Hello,

my last ct scan was horrendous due to difficult veins. I have finished my chemo, had a mastectomy and now need a scan.

Any advice on numbing cream - I know they don’t have time in the hospital but anything I can use which is acceptable.

Thanks

  • Hi Trentender

Thanks for getting in touch and welcome to the online community.

I see that you’re a member of the Breast cancer forum. I hope you’re finding it supportive and informative.

I’m sorry to hear that you’re having difficulties with painful cannulation. Some people find using a topical anaesthetic cream useful. Speaking to a Boots Macmillan information pharmacist might be helpful to discuss which cream to use. Also speaking to your breast care nurse and letting her know about your difficulties might be helpful. They can find out what cream is available in the hospital.

I hope this information helps. Please feel free to get back in touch if you want more information or support.

    Best wishes,

    Fiona M,
