Hi

I had grade 3 triple negative breast cancer and after chemo, a lumpectomy and lymph node removal was given the all clear in January. I then had 2 weeks of radiotherapy.

I have now found a small lump on the same breast but in a different place. I am so worried it has come back and so soon after the all clear.

  • Hello Kas79,

Thank you for getting in touch with us. My name is Donna, I’m one of the Cancer Information Nurses at Macmillan Cancer Support. I see you are a member of our Breast Cancer forum; I hope you find it a helpful and supportive space.

I am sorry to read that you are worried about a new lump that you’ve found. It is normal to worry about cancer returning.

After lumpectomy and radiotherapy, it can take time for the tissue to settle and heal. It’s important to let your hospital specialist team know about any new or changing symptoms. They are best placed to give advice and can arrange for you to be assessed if they think this is required. This can help with feelings of worry and uncertainty.

I hope this information is helpful. Please don’t hesitate to get back in touch if you require more help and support.

    Best wishes,
