I had Tonsil cancer 4 years ago stage 1. I have been remission for 3 years now. I would like to know at 54 years old with my health issues do i have to wait for a letter from the hospital or ask my gp where i stand in the que concerning the covid jab.
Thanks for getting in touch.
That’s great news you’re in remission which doesn’t put you in the clinically extremely vulnerable group. Currently, due to your age you are in priority group 9 which has been set out by The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI).
However, from the information you’ve given, it’s difficult to know if you have any other health conditions which places you in a different group. If you’re unsure it would be worth getting in touch with your GP for further guidance.
The government are aiming for all adults to be vaccinated by July, but if your group is invited for vaccination and you haven’t received a letter you can book your own coronavirus vaccination.
I hope this information is helpful, but if there’s anything else we can help you with please don’t hesitate to get back in touch.
Take care and warmest regards,
Sarah (cancer information nurse specialist)
