  • Hi Alysrog

Thanks for contacting Macmillan Cancer Support and welcome to the online community.

Cancer specialists would usually suggest you still have the flu vaccination, even if you have reduced immunity due to cancer or its treatment.  However, we would always advise you check with your treatment team first, as some patients may be advised to have it at a different time based on their individual circumstances.

Cancer Research UK has information about the flu vaccine and cancer treatment that you may find useful.

Please note that The vaccination is not live, and it cannot give you the flu, but some people get a slight temperature and can feel unwell for few days afterwards.

    I hope this helps.

Please don’t hesitate to get back in touch if you have any more questions.
