Hi, I have a high grade dcis diagnosis and am waiting for biopsy on second area before consultations about the way forward. I was wondering whether or not I should ask for my merema removed as I’m not sure whether it can affect this type of cancer? Should I ask my gp or wait until I see the consultant in September? Thanks
Thanks for your post.
It’d be worthwhile having a chat with your specialist team about this. They’d be able to tell you a bit more about your type of breast cancer and guide you on what to do. I’d suggest contacting your Breast Care Nurse or Consultant to have a chat, rather than waiting until September.
The manufacturers of the Mirena Coil say that it shouldn’t be used if someone has had a hormone dependant cancer, including breast cancer. However, there’s no conclusive link between using an intrauterine system such as the Mirena Coil and breast cancer.
I hope this is helpful.
