Hi Benidorm

Thanks for getting in touch and welcome to the online community. It’s good to hear that your husband is now back in the comfort of your own home after surgery.

After stomach and oesophagus surgery people commonly complain of heartburn and acid reflux. And often acidic foods such as pickles can make these symptoms worse. However, mustard is included in a sample menu from a post-esophagectomy diet information leaflet from the University of Pennsylvania. It may be better to be cautious with small amounts at first to see if they cause your husband any difficulties.

I hope this information is helpful but don’t hesitate to get back in touch if you have further questions and of course you are welcome to call the support line. You can contact us on +44 207 091 2230 from Benidorm. But we are unable to advise on healthcare systems overseas.

Best Wishes
