Thermal baths during chemo

I had a mastectomy at the end of February and started 6 months of chemo in April.

My oncologist says it's ok for me to use thermal baths at a spa but my husband has seen comments on the web about it not being a good idea.

Could you please advise - many thanks.

Hello Brenda

Welcome to the online community and for posting your question.

Your husband is right that people are often advised to avoid spas and other communal areas when they are having treatment. Chemotherapy can lower your bodies immunity and you are usually advised to avoid areas where you may be at a greater risk of picking up infection from other people.

As you have done, we would always advise that you speak to the team that are looking after you for advice as they have access to your treatment plan and blood tests. You could also check with your breast care nurse.

You might be interested in joining our breast care group on the online community, it’s a good place to share experiences and ask questions to people who understand what you're going through.

Best Wishes
