Ovarian or cervical cancer.

i am 21 years old and have a 2 year old daughter. For about a year and a half I have been suffering with pain in my lower right abdomen which gets worse after my period. I also get very bloated and sometimes have pain during sex. I am terrified I have ovarian or cervical cancer, I have been to the doctors on many occasions but and they have done blood test and stool samples but nothing has ever come back so they have put it down to IBS! I am so scared that they are going to keep leaving it and find it to late. I’m not sure if I’m being silly and overthinking because I keep looking online.

Thank you in advance,

Hello Danni123,

Thanks for getting in touch with us.

We don’t think you’re being silly at all. It’s natural to worry about symptoms that you’re having especially when they are not going away. It’s also common to look online to get answers to what is causing the symptoms that you’re experiencing. But no online tool can diagnose what is going on with you. Only a doctor after taking your history and doing tests such as the ones that you have had can diagnose what is happening. From what you’re saying the doctors are taking you seriously as they have done various tests.

We would suggest that you go back and speak to your doctor about the anxiety that you’re having. It’s okay to be honest with them. They can’t help if you don’t let them know that you’re terrified about cancer. They will be able to reassure you as to why they don’t think this is the case. They will be able to discuss with you whether they think that they need to do further tests. They can talk to you about ways to help you to manage your health anxiety.

Best wishes and take care.
