Attendance allowance

I am currently in receipt of the lower rate of AA for other health issues (Copdock, etc)

I am now receiving chemotherapy for metastatic breast cancer.

Does this entitle me to the higher rate of AA to help pay for fuel costs - both indoor heating and petrol to get to cancer hospital twice a week

  • Hello Palestine,

    Thanks for getting in touch.

To discuss your entitlement for the higher rate of Attendance Allowance I’d like you to speak to our Welfare Rights Team. They’ll be able to do a full benefit check to let you know everything you’re entitled to. You can speak to them on freephone 0808 808 0000 or on webchat here and they’re available Monday – Friday 8am – 8pm and weekends 9am – 5pm. When you speak to them, they’ll need some information about household income, savings and outgoings so please have these to hand.

If you need any support with personal finances such as managing any money owed (credit cards/loans for example) or any information about products like insurance policies or help with estate planning (will writing etc.) please let me know and I’ll be happy to help.

Hope to hear from you soon.

    Kind regards,

    Will Quinn
