Is there a general amount of Vitimin D to take daily?

  • Hello Cerismc,

Thanks for getting in touch. My name is Megan, I’m one of the Cancer Information Nurses on the Macmillan Support Line.

The NHS recommend that everyone should consider taking a daily supplement containing 10 micrograms of vitamin D during the autumn and winter.

As you mention Letrozole in the title of your question, I assume you might be taking this for treatment of breast cancer and therefore have included Breast Cancer Now’s information on Looking after your bones, which includes information on recommended vitamin D amounts to take.

For more specific advice tailored to yourself you should speak to your hospital team or GP.

I hope this information is useful. Please don’t hesitate to get back in contact by email, webchat or phone, if you need further information or support.

The Macmillan Support Line offers practical, clinical, financial and emotional support. You can call us free from landlines and from most mobile phone networks on 0808 808 00 00, 7 days a week, 8am – 8pm.

    Best wishes, Megan
