Hysteroscopy follow up

Hello,

I had a hysteroscopy on 5th December privately, I was told after the procedure I would be discharged back to my GP and we can discuss options etc, I was also told that the consultant has removed a significant amount of tissue, I had a 36mm endometrial lining, that was sent to histology. I would be written to with the results. My question is, is it normal to have a follow up after the procedure? Given I was told I would be written to and discharged back to my GP as I have just had a letter for an appointment on 2nd January, I am a little anxious about this.

thanks

Thanks for getting in touch through our online community, I’m Linda, one of the nurses from our support line.

Waiting for tests results can be an understandably anxious time, and it’s only natural to worry when you have received an appointment that you weren’t expecting.

It would be difficult for us to confidently say why you have been given the appointment on the 2nd of January, as we have no way of knowing why your plan has changed. This is because there isn’t a blanket approach to how services run in the UK.

I’m not sure if the clinic you attended will be open today, some might be, so it could be worth calling them to see what they can advise, otherwise it may be Monday until you can speak with someone.

I’m sorry we can’t be more specific with our answer as we really would be second guessing the reason.

I hope you are able to speak with someone before the appointment for some clarity.

    Best wishes

    Linda, Cancer Information Nurse Specialist
