  • Hi Alicocoa,

My name is Keith and I’m one of the Cancer Information Nurse Specialists

    Welcome to the online community.

We are sorry to hear that your husband is having issues with a sore throat that is very red and ulcerated after his second cycle of FLOT.

This treatment can cause a sore mouth and throat. It can also cause mouth ulcers. All the above can increase the risks of getting a mouth or throat infection.

In a situation like this we would always advise contacting his treatment team ASAP so this can be properly assessed and managed. He should have the contact number for the unit where he gets his treatment, as well as a   24hrs emergency contact number. If he is unable to contact either of the above, you can call the main switch board of the hospital where he is getting his treatment, and they should be able to transfer him to any of the above support options.

If you are unable to contact any of the above, you may have to use 111/GP as a backup until you can contact his clinical team.

If you think it may be helpful why not give our support line a call and have a chat with one of our nurses.to discuss this in a little more detail if  required
