Hi Reza
Thanks for getting in touch and welcome to the online community.
My name is Paula and I am one of the Cancer Information Nurse Specialists on the Macmillan Support Line.
I am sorry to hear about your T3 N1 m0 colon cancer diagnosis. I can imagine how difficult it was receiving this news and what that means for you. Getting a cancer diagnosis can bring a lot of uncertainty for many people. I am pleased you reached out to us.
Here at Macmillan, we can give general advice and support. We are independent from the NHS and don’t have access to medical records so cannot give personalised information.
Although survival rates are published by different organisations, they constantly change and are updated regularly. Your team will be able to give you further information on this based on the stage of your cancer as this may change post-surgery.
Sometimes chemotherapy can be given pre and post-surgery to shrink the tumour beforehand or to prevent your cancer coming back. However, it will be down to the results of the pathology report and the multi-disciplinary discussion as to whether further cancer treatment will be needed.
This can be a challenging time, so it’s important that you don’t feel alone. Here at Macmillan, we offer a range of support and services you can access. You may find this link helpful to look at. We also work in partnership with BUPA to offer free counselling sessions.
There is further information and support available through our online community. Bowel Cancer UK also offer support and advice. Some people find it helpful sharing their experiences with others.
You can also give us a call, so we can discuss how we can support you more. You can talk to one of our nurses on the support line.. It’s a free phone number on 0808 808 0000 and we are here 7 days a week, 8am-8pm or email us.
I hope this information has been helpful, please don’t hesitate to get back in touch.
