  • Hi

Thanks for your contact with Macmillan cancer support. I’m Linda, one of the nurses from our support line.

Unfortunately developing a rash with Apalutamide is recognised to be a very common side effect of the treatment. For some this may be mild and for others it can lead to the treatment having to stop.

As we can’t say for sure that the drug is definitely the cause of the rash we are unable to offer guidance on the best way of managing it. Our recommendation is that you contact your health care team to advise them of the rash so they can discuss if it is drug related and what the best course of action should be.

If you are unable to contact them today you can speak with a community pharmacist for their advice or call the 111 service.

For further information I have included the patient information leaflet here and an extended information sheet that health care professions have access to here.

I hope this helps and that you are able to be assessed soon.

    Best wishes, Linda
