Hello Digger
Thank you for getting in touch, my name's Vicky and I'm a Support Advisor here at Macmillan. I'm so sorry to hear of your diagnosis and these issues with your hearing, that’s a lot of money for hearing aids isn’t it especially when you’re going through cancer as there can be other expenses and often reduced income etc. to consider too.
We do have a Welfare Rights Team/Money Advice Team here at Macmillan that you could speak to about any benefits and grants that could help with the cost of your hearing aids, if you can it might be worth giving them a call on 0808 808 0000, option 1 for support and then option 2 for Welfare Rights, they’re available weekdays from 8am to 6pm to see if there’s anything available to you.
You may also be eligible for free NHS hearing aids, you would have to speak to your hearing specialist about this and you could also talk to your Cancer Nurse Specialist, if you have one assigned to you, or your GP, about anything that they can do to help with your situation.
Finally, Digger, there is an organisation called Turn 2 Us where you can see if there are any other grants that may be available to you, I’ve put a link to their website in for you, you need to input some general information, and it will bring up any suggested organisations that may help.
I hope that this information is of some help to you Digger, please do call our Welfare Team for a chat if you can and see if there’s anything else that they can suggest.
Kindest regards,
Remember you can also speak with the Macmillan Support Line team of experts. Phone free on 0808 808 0000 (7 days a week, 8am-8pm) or by email.

Thank you Vicky for your speedy reply, I will phone my consultant and see what she says.
Regards
Digger
