Welcome to the December 2019 travel insurance update.
After the busy festive season, you may hope to take a relaxing break in the New Year. Cheaper holiday deals are often available later in January. You may wish to travel to a warmer and brighter climate or visit a winter wonderland.
If you hope to get away this January, the discussions on the travel insurance group may give you some valuable recommendations.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to the group in December. There were some thought-provoking discussions and several of you found affordable travel insurance after a cancer diagnosis.
Here are some of your success stories over the past month:
Gsx_geoff and his wife found reasonable cover for a trip to Rome:
‘I finished my treatment for throat cancer just over a year ago and got insurance for a 7-day trip to Rome for £42, for me and my wife, with a £100 excess. Quite reasonable considering that no one through a price comparison site would insure me.’
Fresh-fruit took out annual worldwide insurance excluding colon cancer:
‘I wanted travel insurance which specifically excluded my colon cancer, as I am fortunate to be in full remission currently. The company I found were able to do this for me.
I got annual worldwide travel insurance for both me and my missus for £51.50, which I thought was great value. Although it is a reasonably basic policy with a £100 excess, it has everything you would need from £10 million for medical emergencies / repatriation, to cover for curtailment, missed departures, lost money and passport, etc.’
Mitzie10 received a full refund when she had to cancel her holiday:
‘I have used a particular travel insurance company a few times and they are very good. We were booked to go to Crete in October, but I developed pneumonia so had to cancel. A letter from my GP to confirm I was in hospital was all I needed for a full refund.’
