Sore Tongue

1 minute read time.

Hi there was just wondering if there is any of you lovely people that have suffered terribly with your tongue since radiotherapy.  Im 15 months post treatment and my tongue has taken the most battering from the invasive treatment i had of 30 radical radiotherapy sessions and 4 chemos.  The dry mouth is bad enough but i manage to cope with that with plenty of water to hand.  Treatment was on the left hand side as the cancer was in my left tonsil and neck lymph node.  I have a certain spot on the side half way back that hurts and is "there" all the time nagging and when i have eaten it triggers it off again, i ve tried endless remedies, bonjela, mouth wash, the only thing i find works for a while is souable asprin but i cant keep taking them everyday two to three times a day.  Have spoken to oncologist and surgeon but they dont come up with anything more or less just say its part and parcel of the treatment.  I know of other people that have had the same treatment and dont suffer this.  Is there anyone out there who could recommend something or advise i would be most grateful.  Thank you in anticipation and hope everyone is feeling well and upbeat.

Love n Hugs

My mouth was bad after chemo - not as bad as your, but I found natural pineapple juice was great for healing. It is a well known remedy for chemo but maybe yours is diffent becuase of where you had the radio. Anyway best of luck

    Keep smiling

I know what you mean, although mine is better some days than others, and maybe is not quite as severely affected as yours, either?

    1. keep eating the best diet possible, with attention to protein and all the vitamins and minerals, to maximise your body's ability to heal.

    2. specifically, I use Difflam mouthwash, still, well over a year since I finished treatment.

    3. why can't you go on using aspirin regularly?

    Love and best wishes
