We are of to Greece next week for 2 weeks, plenty of rest and relaxation, no phone calls, no visitors and no bloody hospitals, oh yes and plenty of sun hopefully.

Just a quick update on Derek's Progress, he had his total Gastrectomy on May 24th, after a long hard road he is now looking fantastic, he is feeling good, and he is eating vitually anything and the portion sizes are a good size, certainly not tiny portions like he was having just after his op.

He had 3 months chemo before the op and started chemo after op but has had to stop as it was affecting his heart, he had a heart attack 2 years ago and is on a cocktal of drugs so best to stop chemo now, we dont want another attack.

All we can do now is hope that no cancerous cells broke away in surgery and that he will be back to himself in no time at all and hopefully we can put this nightmare to the back of our minds.

Hope everybody else out there is well and winning the battle.

Its now nearly 10 weeks since hubby had his stomach and quarter of the gullet removed, its been a hard recovery but we have got there, he is doing brilliantly, today we went to see Oncologist and he is really pleased with how everything has gone, he is confident they have got it all out.

We felt really good when we came out of the hospital and felt positive for the 1st time in months, its so nice to start feeling good again and feel like we can start to live our life after all these months of cancer ruling it.

So keep positive everyone, we can beat this thing and show it we are stronger than it.

My hubby has oesophagus cancer and has a barrage of tests, scans etc, he has had 3 months chemo and we went to see the consultant last week for the results of the CT Scan he had a couple of weeks ago, the consultant says its good news and they can operate in the next couple of weeks, the only down side is they are going to remove the whole of his stomach and the bottom half of the oesophagus, but they are hoping to do it by keyhole so that is a big plus.

We are totally shocked about the removal of the stomach as no doctor we have seen since his diagnosis has ever mentioned this to us, i realise they are probably doing it to be on the safe side of cells spreading, but expected to just have part of the oesophagus removed.

My hubby is struggling mentally with the thought of loosing his stomach, but as we have both said what choice do you have, really no choice is there if you want to live, so we just hope he will be able to cope with the life changing surgery and hopefully lead a long happy cancer free life.
