Surgery on Friday

Less than one minute read time.
I used to work because I love my job, I still love my job but after some serious consideration I realised I now work because I still get free private medical cover as part of my salary package. I can see me commuting up to London well past retirement age just to keep the cover. Whilst the treatment isn't any different privately (I'd still be under the Royal Marsden Hospital) everything is sorted out much faster. Thus through the wonders of BUPA I get operated on Friday. So to calm the panic yesterday I bought a few essentials to take into hospital, new perfume and matching shower gel and body lotion, that sort of thing. Oh and a new bedding set for when I come home . . . . and a new handbag to take in with me, obviously with matching shoes! I've examined the claim form very carefully but I can't find the section to claim for these necessities. Can anyone offer any advice? Sharry x

Sharry it's a separate form now - you ask HR for the Bond Street necessity form!   And there you go all sorted.  Hope that helped roflmao!

I believe the correct procedure is to explain to the fees office that the shoes, bedding and handbag are for your second home (the hospital) and not for your principal residence.  If they ask any impertinent questions you simply get your boss to shout at them.  Should all be in your bank account by Wednesday...

Crossing everything for a successful surgery and so glad your sense of humour is still in the best of health...

    lots of love

  • Hi Sharry,

Don't these items come under the heading of essential drugs? If not, why not?

    Good luck for Friday!
