I live in Pevensey Bay and was operated on in Brighton. Of course none of the Professionals could guide me towards other patients, so I have sort of been left to get on with it. There is a newly formed Oesophageal Patients Association for the Sussex Coast but it only meets quarterly. My need for contact has been for a bit more than four times a year, (or less, if I don't feel well on the meeting date) It's a bit like "Is there anyone out there?" I'm so unused to using a computer in this way that I'm not even certain if this really reaches anyone. I guess I will just wait and see. I am probably one of the 'lucky' ones inasmuch that my Cancer was spotted at a very early stage because of a routine endoscopy and biopsy. I had Barretts Oesophagus which has a significant chance of becoming cancerous. I had been told a couple of years ago that regular endoscopy checks were being discontinued. I asked for my checks to continue for which I am now rather pleased. The Cancer would have much further progressed before I became aware. I did respond to someone asking about dilations.(well I think I responded!) I'm the guy with 21 of them under my belt! I did ask if they give you a badge after 20 but somehow they missed the joke! I won't go on, it might get boring.
