The thing goes under the knife!

1 minute read time.

Well tomorrow ie Wednesday the 23rd surgery to remove my "thing" takes place.

For all of you who have faced the knife with stoicism, my congratulations. If however like me you went reluctantly but resignedly, placing your life in 'their hands', you are doubly to be praised.

Over the past few weeks I have become addicted to real life hospital documentaries. I think I could now perform open heart surgery, liver re-section, joint replacement and even certain brain operations. It  is all made to look so easy. I could well believe in time to come there will be DIY surgery.

Can you imagine rival stores opening up offering everything you need to perform your own appendectomy? Instead of B&Q or Ikea you would be visiting "Tumours 'R Us," or    " ♥'s Galore."  I can see the TV adds now, Special this weekend  free scalpel set given with every heart by-pass kit.

How wonderful, hospitals would be under-occupied, Surgeons would be on the dole, and we would have nostalgia about the days of long waiting lists.

I know what you are thinking, there would be horror stories of things going wrong, "Man removes wrong leg in diy operation" would scream out of  tabloid headlines. just remember the following though http://www.nytimes.com/1995/09/17/us/doctor-who-cut-off-wrong-leg-is-defended-by-colleagues.html and http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/01/17/erol-uke-doctor-disciplin_n_426310.html

Anyway I digress, part of the nerves build up you may think.

Today I should be resting calmly at home in preparation for tomorrow, but instead I am doing a "grandparent day" at my grandson's pre-school, the film Kindergarten Cop comes to mind. surgery will be a doddle after today.

Many thanks to all who have sent good wishes, I will try and reply to each.
