Dad died on Thursday morning. After being in hospital 16 days, he passed away peacefully, with all his family around him.
Dad was ready to go. He told us all he was prepared and where he was going was a lovely place. He wasn't afraid, and being so wonderful and brave, he prepared us all. It still hurts like hell though.
We all managed to speak to him alone, from Mum, to his grandchildren...even Calum, the youngest, at 3, spent a little time with Grandad.
My husband and I spent the nights with him, and it gave us valuable and memorable time to speak with him. He planned his funeral with us, telling us who he wanted there, and more important, who he didn't!! He planned everything with us on those long nights. We have no doubt what to do, what music to play, where to hold the wake...he made it all so easy.
Dad was funny, almost to the end, although his final hours were spent deeply asleep, he opened his eyes and looked at us all with such love, in the moments before he passed away.
I will love him forever and miss him so much.
We are proud to be part of my Dads life and his death...and hope he will be proud of us, wherever he is now.
Rest in peace My Daddy....love always.
xx
