My Mum has cancer

My Mum was diagnosed with breast cancer in September 2010, she finished her treatment for that and started having stomach pains and nausea. Finally after months of to and fro at the g.p. she has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer (apparently unrelated) and they have told us it has spread to her peritoneum. She is currently in hospital after surgery to re-plum her bowels as the tumours on her peritoneum were causing bowel obstructions.

They have told us that there is nothing more they can do surgically and she is being referred to a cancer specialist for possible chemo. We have no idea what the prognosis is at this point but things aren’t looking good.

I’m just so upset and scared. I feel like I’ve lost my Mum already. She is a shadow of her former self and has lost all her fight and spirit.

At the time of her breast cancer diagnosis my daughter was just 8 weeks old – she is now 8 months and I fear that we are both going to have to get through life without my lovely Mum.
