has anyone been offered a trial drug

Less than one minute read time.
I am coming to an end of chemo for breast cancer and have been asked to consider taking part in a trial drug to reduce the risk of the cancer coming back, they use either a tablet called Celecoxib or a Placebo, they say it is a drug introduced in America that reduces the inflammation, pain and stiffness of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid. You take it for 5yrs but dont know if you are taking the drug or a placebo. I really dont know what to do and wondered if anyone else has been offered this and what your comments on this are. Thanks carol2xx

Hi Carol. I cant comment on the drug trial you have been offered but just to tell you of my trial experience. When my cancer returned after only 4 months i was told my condition was terminal but i would be suitable for a trial chemo drug. There were 2 arms to the trial.1 was to recieve a known chemo drug on its own and the other was the known drug combined with a trial drug(I got that arm).It meant having to have a pic line put in because of possible side effects and a did get some symptoms , however the chemo finished over a year ago and my tumour has lay dormant without growing. That drug has now been registered for use.I hope you find more advice on your trial and im sure you will make the right decision for you. Good luck.  Lesleyxx
